Praise be to Allah.

 

Dr. Sano Koutoub Moustapha, professor of Fiqh and its Principles, International Islamic University, Malaysia, states the following,

 

Islam does recommend Muslims to travel and visit different countries and nations in order for them to appreciate the greatness of Allah’s creation. There are many verses in the Glorious Qur’an that call upon them to travel around the world.

 

In this regard, one should travel to any country in the world as far as he or she can adhere to the teachings of Islam.

 

One should avoid unpleasant situations and places. I shall recommend Muslims in the western countries to visit Muslim countries for better understanding and looking for further cooperation with fellow Muslims.

 

Having said all this, one should bear in mind that when one is Muslim, Islam is seen through one’s actions and behavior. Therefore, one should be a good ambassador of Islam and Muslims wherever one goes in this world. One should work towards upholding the good image and name of Islam.

 

Moreover, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states:

 

Vacationing is necessary, for we all need outlets for recuperation and recharging our emotional, physical, and intellectual batteries. But you should choose places that are free from evil and immorality as best as you can.

 

If you are going to the beach, for example, choose the time when most people are busy elsewhere. This could be in the early morning. Beaches and amusement parks attract many skimpily dressed people. Try to avoid such places. Instead, visit mountain areas, forests, and so on, which are vast and remote and where not so many people congregate in one place. Such places are also more enlivening for the spirit. Another alternative to beaches and amusement parks is interesting museums, where you will have plenty of other things to look at than half-naked bodies.

 

Going in a cruise trip will expose you to major sins. It is known to all through the promotion of such programs that it includes alcohol drinking, parties, dancing, mixed gender swimming, naked bodies, etc. Many who went on trips of this kind reported that they witnessed all sorts of evils, and they did not recommend it nor it is suitable for a Muslim male or female to join a crowd that displeases Allah in every action they perform.
