| How to Know if Our Faith is Strong? |
Question:
Is there a way in which we can know if our faith is strong or if Allah accepts our faith? And how could we know if we are true beleivers, meaning Allah accepts us as beleivers? Is there also a way in which we can get more closer to Allah? How could we know Allah likes us or is pleased with us? Can we know if we're going to Jannah or Hell Fire?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
If we wish to know whether our faith is strong or not, we may do well to read the profiles or attributes of the true believers as described in the many verses of the Qur'an such as the following: (Qur'an: 2:177; 25: 63:77; 33:35, etc.).
If we can identify ourselves with them, then we can rest assured that we are on the right track. If, however, we are lacking in some of these attributes, then still we need not despair--as long as we repent, seek forgiveness and start taking the necessary steps to improve ourselves, for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Stated differently, consider how you spend your day: Are you engaged in pursuits that would bring you close to Allah, or are you engaged in pursuits that draw you farther and farther away from Allah?
I pray to Allah to inspire us all to come close to Him by doing the things He has ordered us, and staying away from the things He has forbidden.
