Building mosques is one of the greatest forms of devotion to Allah. The Prophetic Hadith clearly states this fact: “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him likewise in Paradise.” [Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim]
The Muslim Council of Calgary and Muslim Association of Calgary are calling upon the community to support the Brooks Islamic Centre to bring this project to reality. An urgent appeal to secure $60,000 is very much needed to move the project to the next phase to construct the first floor of the Masjid.
Brooks is about 14,000 people. More than 400 Muslim families living in Brooks and area with an approx. 900-1000 Muslims. On a regular Friday prayer, more than 150 members participate in the prayer and no space to accommodate them. In the last Eid prayer, they had over 500 attended the service and celebration.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Among what continues to accrue for a believer of his good works after death are the following: knowledge that he learned and then imparted to others, a pious child whom he left behind, a copy of the Qur’an that he bequeathed, a mosque that he built, a guest house he built for travelers, a river that he made to flow, and charity he spends from his wealth when he is in good health – all of this continues to avail him after his death.” [Sunan Ibn Majah and Sunan al-Bayhaqi]
